The latest data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers recently showed that with the successive introduction of consumption promotion policies and various marketing activities and other comprehensive factors, the overall auto market in May improved compared with April, and the production and sales of automobiles were 2.333 million and 2.382 million respectively. Vehicles increased by 9.4% and 10.3% month-on-month and 21.1% and 27.9% year-on-year. From January to May, the production and sales of automobiles were 10.687 million and 10.617 million respectively, an increase of 11.1% year-on-year.

The production and sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles both grew rapidly year-on-year. From January to May, the cumulative sales of passenger vehicles reached 9.001 million units, a year-on-year increase of 10.7%. The production and sales of commercial vehicles were 1.625 million and 1.616 million respectively, a year-on-year increase of 14.2% and 13.7% respectively. Among them, the market share of Chinese brand passenger cars continued to grow, with a total of 4.781 million units sold in the first five months, a year-on-year increase of 22.7%, and a market share of 53.1%, an increase of 5.2 percentage points.

Automobile exports continued to grow rapidly. From January to May, auto companies exported 1.758 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 81.5%. Among them, 1.467 million passenger vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 96.6%; commercial vehicle exports were 291,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 30.9%. The export of new energy vehicles was 457,000, a year-on-year increase of 1.6 times.

New energy vehicles continue to grow rapidly. From January to May, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 3.005 million and 2.94 million respectively, a year-on-year increase of 45.1% and 46.8% respectively, and the market share reached 27.7%. The relevant person in charge of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said that the continuation and optimization of the vehicle purchase tax reduction and exemption policy for new energy vehicles will further stabilize market expectations and benefit the release of demand.
